Perla Finkelstein was born on August 28, 1904 in Gombin (Gąbin, Poland). She was the fourth of seven children of the couple Abraham and Sara Finkelstein (nee Kesselmann). The family lived in Sprendlingen (today part of town of Dreieich, district Offenbach). Abraham Finkelstein was master tailor and operated a shop for manufactured goods in Waldstraße 4. His wife Sara died in 1938 in Sprendlingen.

Perla Finkelstein was first recorded in the home "Isenburg" on 30 July 1926 . A few weeks earlier she had given birth to her son Artur in Frankfurt am Main. On August 18, she returned to Sprendlingen. Whether she left the home together with Artur or left the infant in the care of the home is not known. Perla lived after the birth of her second son Manfred again in the home of the Jewish Women's Association from 17 October 1927. On April 16, 1928 Perla was logged out to Oslo. Whether the stay in the Norwegian capital is in connection with the adoption of Artur by Philip Sam an Florence Watchman, could not be clarified up to now. In 1933, Perla immigrated to Poland with her younger son Manfred. Both survived the Shoah under unclear circumstances. After the Second World War, Perla and Manfred Finkelstein emigrated to Israel, where Perla Finkelstein, married Zuckermann, died.

This biography could be compiled from the information provided by Bodil Stenseth (Oslo).
