A few days after her birth at the Hospital of the Jewish community of Frankfurt Dorothea Hirschfeld was in the care of “Heim Isenburg.” There, she grew up in her first four years of life. Immediately after the November pogrom in 1938 her grandmother who lived in Berlin, Mathilde Friedländer, took her granddaughter. In Berlin, Dorothea attended elementary school from Easter onwards in 1941 for a year.
On June 13, 1942, Dorothea Hirschfeld was deported together with her grandmother in the Lublin district and murdered probably immediately after arrival at the Sobibór extermination camp. Dorothea Hirschfeld was eight years old at the time of her murder.
