Ruth Ellen Loewenthal was the mother of Joel Loewenthal, who is also listed in this Memorial Book. The 21-year-old and her barely two-year-old son sought shelter in “Heim Isenburg” in the summer of 1941 shortly before the deportations of the German Reich began. They stayed in the facility for four months which was already in the process of dissolution at the time. On October 21, 1941, they were both deported to Bremen where Ruth Ellen and her son had lived before their stay in Neu-Isenburg.
Ruth Ellen Loewenthal was deported to the ghetto Minsk on November 18, 1942. She was probably they were taken away with her son. The transport included 440 people from Bremen and another 408 from Hamburg (Gottwaldt/Schulle, p. 95 f.).
