Renate Strauss was born in the Israelite Hospital in Frankfurt/Main on 16 November 1937. Her mother was the domestic worker Cilli Strauss, born in Lohrhaupten on 5 August 1905. Her father was the merchant Ludwig Eisen. Cilli Strauss was listed in Frankfurt in Rechneigrabenstraße 12a, Ludwig Eisen in Glückstraße 14. Shortly after her birth Renate came into the care of the home "Isenburg" and remained there until the institution was closed in the spring of 1942. On 27 February she was signed off to Frankfurt. There she lived for a few months in the children's home of the association "Weibliche Fürsorge", Hans-Thoma-Straße 24. In September 1942, she was deported to the ghetto Theresienstadt together with all other children who lived in the home of "Weibliche Fürsorge" at that time. Two years later Renate was deported to the concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz. There the trace of the six-year-old girl is lost.
