Karola Bär grew up in Karlsruhe. She had a twin brother Kurt and a brother Norbert who was 3 years older than her. She was the daughter of Zilli (born Schwarzwälder) and Julius Bär a sales man.

Details about her childhood are not known. At the age of 15 she was taken into care by “Heim Isenburg”. Maybe difficulties within the family were the reason. In 1930 her parents got divorced. Nine month later her mother committed suicide.

Karola Bär had three children. In 1933 she gave birth to a daughter, who survived the Shoa by non-Jewish foster parents. 19th October 1937 her son Wolfgang was born. Meanwhile she first moved to Heidelberg and from there to Berlin. In Berlin she married James Herbert Münzer. Together they had another son Gad who was born 8th November 1941.

On January 12th, 1943 Karola Münzer was deported to the extermination camp Auschwitz together with her sons Wolfgang and Gad. All three were murdered there. Her husband, her twin brother and her father became victims of the National-Socialist racist lunacy too.
