Paul Moses Itzinger was born in 1937 in Wiesbaden. His parents were Hermine (Henny) Itzinger née Berger, and Israel Itzinger. Paul had five older siblings. The family lived in Wiesbaden since 1925. The address Moritz Street 15 can be established from 1931.

The father was a sales representative for textile products. After registering with the Wiesbaden tax office, he became a business owner for hotel amenities. His business address, "Bärenstraße 2" is listed in the Wiesbaden address book of 1925/26.

During the period from March 30, 1938, to January 31, 1939, the parents gave their youngest son, 13-month-old Paul Moses, in the care of "Heim Isenburg." The reasons for this are not known. Presumably, the parents could no longer adequately provide for their children.

Paul's father, Israel Itzinger was of Polish origin, the mother and Paul Moses possessed German nationality. Israel Itzinger was deported to Poland during the period when Paul Moses lived in Neu-Isenburg. His wife was left with six minor children in Wiesbaden. Since she had no way to earn a living for the family, Henny Itzinger decided to follow her husband to Poland with the children. In November 1938, she applied for an emigration permit. The clearance of their relocation luggage by the Customs Investigation Branch in Mainz dragged on. The Polish border was closed. In June 1939, Henny Itzinger and her children finally received permission to immigrate to Poland. They left Germany by the end of July.

The fate of the family can be only be reconstructed in fragments. The last sign of life was Henny's mother who lived with a daughter in South Africa at the beginning of 1941. The card which was signed by all family members except the then four-year-old Paul Moses came from the Ghetto Biecz in Jaslo, Southern Poland. Since then, the family has been missing.
