Sigmund S. came to the Jewish Women's League home in Neu-Isenburg for three weeks in the summer of 1938 among a group of holiday children from Frankfurt.
Sigmund grew up in Frankfurt and from 1936 onwards, he attended the Elementary school of Philanthropies. In 1939 his education was interrupted because the family fled from Germany to England. In London, he received an irregular education because the family was repeatedly evacuated because of German bomb attacks. In 1944, Sigmund left school at the age of 14 to contribute to the livelihood of the family. After the war, he immigrated to the USA. On August 19, 1947, the 17-year-old arrived in New York with the ship "Marine Jumper.”
Sigmund S. died on March 11, 2008, at the age of 77 in New York.
