Erika Schaumburger spent more than 14 years in the home of the Jewish Women's Association in Neu-Isenburg. Two weeks after her birth, her mother, Bertha Schaumburger from Westernburg, gave the girl into the care of the home. Bertha Schaumburger was a nurse. She had been engaged in hospital service in Frankfurt during the First World War, but was mentally ill afterwards. She was at times confused and led an erratic life, so that she could not care for her daughter.
On April 21, 1938 Erika Schaumburger signed of from Neu-Isenburg to Frankfurt to Klinkestraße 24. For a while she lived in Wollgraben 20 (Börnestraße), her last address in Frankfurt was the children's home in Sandweg 7.
At the age of 18, Erika Schaumburger was deported to the concentration camp Ravensbrück in March 1942, half a year later, in October 1942, to the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp. There she died shortly after arriving on October 29, 1942, according to death report allegedly from a kidney infection. Erika Schaumburger was only 19 years old.
